About (liv)ed in

I started (liv)ed in in early 2007, several months after realizing I had an intense obsession with all things design. After spending far too many hours trolling the great design blogs, innundating my friends with copious links to fabulous pieces, and having to search through my gmail for strange phrases like “cardboard table” in order to find, well, cardboard tables I was raving about months ago, I thought a little blog would be an excellent way to catalog my likes and share them with others.

While I’m not entirely sure of the direction the blog will take in months to come, I expect you’ll be able to find links to lovely and colourful pieces, inspiring art and interiors, and a recounting of my tribulations and successes as I move into my first apartment of my own.

And the name. Why (liv)ed in? Well, it was a great suggestion by one mr. matt that played on my name o(liv)ia and also helped signify the type of style that I wanted my blog to illustrate: beautiful, fun, colourful, and most importantly, home to a real person!

And who am I? O(liv)ia Leigh. A young, quirky, outgoing photographer, writer, and designer with an obsession for art, music, writing, design, cuisine, and generally anything else that people say you can’t earn a living doing. Currently debating between a corgi, pomeranian, or bunny for my new tiny apartment on the North Side of Chicago.
