After first traipsing around the West Loop in search of a new Chicago Card, I decided to shun the gourmet offerings of the area and instead went back up to the North Side to my favourite thai restaurant, Joy’s. After parking way too far away, I ended up stopping in some of the design stores on Broadway. One of the stores, Guava Imports (3327 N Broadway), had a gorgeous lotus chandelier in the window that was quite similar, if not exactly the one in the photo. While I knew I couldn’t afford it, I inquired in the small, cute store, where the helpful clerk told me it was $500-something and handmade in Asia using capiz shells. It’s was quite lovely in person, very delicate and unique. A nice alternative to the plastic pieced lanterns that are all over the place.
